Confession....I am a binge watcher...

Confession....I am a binge watcher...

Before the discovery of Netflix, the hubs and I would alternate between HGTV and Friends, depending on what time it was. Of course we had our once-a-week shows (TWD, SoA) that we would never miss, but we were never huge into following a series. All of that changed when we decided to sign up for Netflix. What started out as a free trial to catch up on Seasons 1 & 2 of TWD has turned into a nightly obsession. Seriously guys, it has become an all out binge fest at our crib. In the past 4 months we have blown through 4 seasons of TWD, 8 seasons of Dexter, 6 seasons of SoA and are halfway through our second season of American Horror Story. (#hashtagaddicted)

This brings me to my dilemma. There are only 2 seasons of American Horror Story on Netflix, which means we are about 3 days from running out of things to watch. Of course we could scroll endlessly through the ridiculous movies that no one has ever heard of (The Beast with a Million Eyes, The Incredible Two Headed Transplant....seriously Netflix?? ), but that has proven to be unsuccessful in the past. Soooo...to all of my fellow binge watchers---What the hell do we do now!?! We are in desperate need of a new show...and quick. People keep talking about OITNB & Game of Thrones, but I am on the fence about them. As evidenced by the last 4 series' that we have watched, there is not much that offends us. Blood, violence, nudity, zombies eating the faces off of unsuspecting humans. You name it we've seen it. Pleaseohpleaseohplease tell me what to watch next, otherwise my hubs will be stuck watching another "Open Water" type movie with me, and we know how much he hates that!

In return for all of your suggestions, I am going to share a quick synopsis of the 4 shows we have watched as of late. I don't want to give away too many spoilers so I will keep it short but ohmygod you have to watch these shows.

TWD (The Walking Dead)

If I had to sum the show up in one line: A group of people living in a post-apocalyptic world, surrounded by zombies, struggle to make it from one day to the next. Seriously, I would make the worst movie critic ever. Throw in Darryl (a bow-and-arrow-welding fox of a man) Rick, (a police officer turned group leader) and Michonne (a bad ass broad with a sword) and you have yourself one of the best shows ever. Trust me, I have zero interest in zombies and was hooked by the 1st episode.

SoA (Sons of Anarchy)

Let's see, one line to sum this one up: Can I just say Jax Teller? No, I guess not...How about this? An outlaw motorcycle gang (who also run a garage, by the way) living in a quiet little town attempt to protect their families, all while taking out the trash and keeping the peace with the cops. There is lots of death, even more sex, and did I mention Jax Teller? (which, let's face it, is the real reason why we sit down week after week, isn't it ladies?)

Dexter

Quiet and mysterious, Dexter is a blood spatter analyst for the Miami Metro Police Department who moonlights as a serial killer. The only difference is that Dexter only kills murderers. Each season on Dexter features a new killer and a new set of problems, (will the PD find out who he really is? Will his sister Deb find out? How about Rita?) and I can promise that it will keep you on the edge of your seat for 8 seasons. And the ending was CRAZZZZYY. See, now you have to watch it to find out what happens!

American Horror Story

We are only halfway into the 2nd season on this so I can't really give you too much info. What I can say is that this show is insane and freaky and completely different than anything I have ever watched before. Sure, it has the violence and sex (which apparently is a requirement for all shows that I watch?) but it also has a crazy story line that jumps from the past to the present. Each season is completely different than the last, introducing new characters and a whole new storyline. Not a bad show to pass the time until we find another one.

So there you have it, 4 shows that should keep you busy for the next few months. Now its your turn--what should we watch next?!?!

Things that drive me crazy...

Things that drive me crazy...

So it has literally only been 4 days without a blog post, and yet I feel like I have been away from this place for months!! See what blogging every day can do to you? Whatever, I'm totally looking forward to the next 30 day challenge....

Today I am going to share with you some things that drive me crazy!! Like, absolutely bat-shit bonkers...Some of these may be true for you, but I'm going to guess that for the most part, I'm just a freak and let the little things bother me.

1. The hiccups...especially the painful ones that make you feel like your stomach is convulsing...and the ones that last through an entire episode of The Walking Dead. You can hold your breath while drinking a glass of water through a licorice upside down, and they are still there---nagging and lingering.

2. Loud motorcycles that speed past you on the interstate...or the ones that idle next to you at a stop light, causing you to miss your favorite part of a song. Cool, so I understand you like people to notice you and if you don't speed up to the front of the line you are going to miss the Harley convention, but please choose a lane that is not next to me. Thankyouverymuch.

3. That annoying piece of skin on the side of your fingernail..you know the one...You will bite it and bite it until it comes off, knowing damn well that it is going to hurt for 7 days afterwards. It will then proceed to get caught on every blanket, t-shirt and hair on your head, causing more biting and eventually wrapping a piece of scotch tape around it because you are at work and you are classy like that.

4. Movie credits...there is just something about the credits rolling and the song playing in the background that literally makes me angry. I have to shut the movie off AS SOON as it is over, and I will just about jump off of the couch to find the remote. You know how some movies will show a funny clip after the credits have finished rolling? Yea, I've never seen that part.

5. Whistling....omg guys I don't know what it is about whistling but it makes my skin crawl!! So one little whistle to get someone's attention or when the hubs whistles at me from afar--I'm totally cool with that...but when someone just walks down the street whistling some obnoxiously happy tune---I seriously want to scream.

6. When clothes are hanging out of the dresser drawers...I'm sure this is 100% due to my OCD...There is something about seeing the sleeve of a shirt or the teeny tiniest part of a sock hanging out of the drawer that kills me. I will stop whatever I am doing to walk over and fix it. This rule also applies to cords, paper and anything else that will obnoxiously weasel its way halfway out of the drawer.

7. People that make up words...for example..."funner, supposably, irregardless" to name a few...First of all, they are not real words...second, I am secretly judging you for using said words. And third, THEY ARE NOT REAL WORDS...Ok, I know I said that twice, but I feel like it is warranted.

8. People who overuse apostrophes...apostrophes are used for 2 things. To show possession and to join 2 words. If I am talking about Katie's shoes, there would be an apostrophe after Katie. There WOULD NOT, however, be an apostrophe after shoe. I feel like if you don't know, don't add an apostrophe. Less is more people.

9. Commercials...I know that this mainly has to do with the fact that I am Netflix spoiled, but commercials drive me insane. If I am watching something live, (which is super rare by the way as I will pause a show just so that I can fast forward through the next commercial), I get so flustered at the break, knowing that I have at least 3 minutes until my show picks back up. Netflix + DVR = best inventions ever.

10. Slamming your baby toe on something...you could seriously be walking at snail speed, gently graze your baby toe on the side of the couch and suddenly you are laying on the floor, grabbing at your foot as though it were just chopped off, screaming every curse word known to sweet baby jesus. It doesn't matter how hard you hit it, your baby toe is definitely the wuss of the lower half of your body when it comes to pain.

There are probably like a zillion other things that drive me crazy, but I'll leave you with those for now. What drives you crazy?? And am I the only one who hates the ones that I mentioned?

Day 25...Must have apps...can't live without 'em...

Day 25...Must have apps...can't live without 'em...

Today’s topic is doubly awesome!! First of all, I get to share with everyone all of the apps that I use on a daily basis, and 2, I get to find awesome new apps by reading other people’s posts! Win win!

Before I get into the apps that I can’t live without, I am going to start out by saying that I don’t need any apps to remember that today is my baby sister’s birthday!! She is the big 2-6 today!!! She is officially in her late 20’s, which means that I am officially 13 months away from being 30…which means that we are old, and that sucks big time. So happy birthday to my favorite rolling rock of destruction, here’s to lots of wrinkles and saggy boobs!

To begin, here is a picture of my home screen. I’m pretty much as anal retentive OCD as they come, so of course everything is neatly organized into categories. ((Little tidbit of info...The pic on my home screen is a few months ago when our poor little town flooded and we went to the river to take some snapshots.))

In no particular order, here are some of my must have apps:

1.       Social Media Apps:
I’m pretty sure everyone reading this uses one or all of these apps on a daily basis, so there is really no need for a long explanation for each. Pretty much, they are all awesome and everyone needs to download them like, yesterday.
*Blogger     *Instagram
*Facebook      *Pinterest

2. Music Apps
*Pandora—create your own music channels based on an artist, a genre, a song name, etc…I literally have this open every single day of my life.
*Shazam—you know how when you are sitting in a store and you hear an awesome song on the radio but you don’t know the name or the artist? Open this app, hold your phone near the music and Voila! Within a few seconds you have the artist, song name album, etc…If you are anything like me this will save hours of obsessing trying to figure it out!
*YouTube—again, this one is kind of a no brainer. Looking for a video of pretty much anything? YouTube probably has it.

3. TV/Movie Apps
*IMDB—This is the “Internet Movie Database,” and it is the best creation in the whole world, like ever. Look up any actor/actress and instantly know every other movie that they were ever in. Need to know who played the main character in “Wild Hearts Can’t Be Broken? (It was Gabrielle Anwar, btw)…pull up this app and instantly find out. It is an absolute lifesaver!
*Flixster—This app is basically a movie theater guide. It tells you which movies are playing at any theater, gives you ratings for each one and lets you watch trailers. Also, it tells you all of the upcoming movies so you can look forward to Paranormal Activity 5 or The Best of Me!
*Netflix—Although this uses like obscene amounts of data, it also gets you through a hell of a boring day. Pull this up and watch movies instantly, just like you were home on your couch. A definite must have.

4. Games

*Magic Piano—Ok so I am completely hooked on this game. Not even joking, the first thing I do when I get home from work every day is sit down and play my free song of the day, then complete the daily challenge. It’s basically just a piano on your phone where you have to touch the screen when the light gets to the bottom..Pretty simple concept but super addictive!!
*Bloons Tower Defense Battles—This can be played as either a single player game (against other people in the world) or a competition game (with your hubs)…you set up your monkeys all around the board, upgrading towers and collecting bananas and sending out this huge blimp called the “Mother of all Bloons.” I know, awful description---but I’ve been playing all of the versions of Bloons for 10+ years, so this is another must have for me. I HIGHLY recommend downloading it.
*94 Seconds—This game is a really fun, really fast paced game—and its even more fun when you are a few drinks in. You are given a letter of the alphabet and a category, and you have to think of something that fits (for example….Fruit that starts with “C”….Cantaloupe…Clementine…Country that starts with "B"...Bolivia, Brazil...). You only have 94 seconds to come up with as many answers as you can, and each question is a different letter. It gets intense lemme-tell-ya.

5. Shopping
These apps are all used for coupons. Walk into a store, look up the name and BAM...All of the coupons and sales they are currently offering! Sometimes you don’t even have to look up the store!! You walk into a mall and the sales just pop up! 95% of stores will honor the coupons, so why not save yourself some money!!
*Shopular

*Snip-Snap

*Savings.com

6.  Random apps that don't fit any other category

*Timehop—Sync this bad boy up with your facebook, instagram, etc and it is like a walk down memory lane. Every day you can see what you did on that day a year ago, 2 years, 3 years…it is so funny to see the difference in what you were doing and where you were back then.
*MyRadar—Since we live in Florida and it rains like 14 times a day, I am always pulling up the MyRadar app. It will literally pinpoint exactly where the storm is, down to the mile. It also breaks the storm down by color so you can see if the rain will be a light mist or a torrential downpour.
*Police Scanner—I admit, I am THAT neighbor that will come outside and pretend to walk to the dog or take out the trash if there is a cop on my street, I am also THAT neighbor that taps into my county’s police scanner with this spiffy little app. To be honest, I am not 100% sure if that is legal, but since I got it on the app store we will just assume that it is…moving right along…
*Bleacher Report—This app will mean nothing to you if you are not a sports fan. You can pick your favorite team and it will alert you of any news, scores and anything else pertaining to the team.  Pretty fantastic.

7.  And of course, the app I use more than anything in the world...
*Google

 (cred)

Hopefully you were able to find some new must have apps of your own. And I would LOVEEE to hear about some of your in the comments!!!!
