Things that drive me crazy...

Things that drive me crazy...

So it has literally only been 4 days without a blog post, and yet I feel like I have been away from this place for months!! See what blogging every day can do to you? Whatever, I'm totally looking forward to the next 30 day challenge....

Today I am going to share with you some things that drive me crazy!! Like, absolutely bat-shit bonkers...Some of these may be true for you, but I'm going to guess that for the most part, I'm just a freak and let the little things bother me.

1. The hiccups...especially the painful ones that make you feel like your stomach is convulsing...and the ones that last through an entire episode of The Walking Dead. You can hold your breath while drinking a glass of water through a licorice upside down, and they are still there---nagging and lingering.

2. Loud motorcycles that speed past you on the interstate...or the ones that idle next to you at a stop light, causing you to miss your favorite part of a song. Cool, so I understand you like people to notice you and if you don't speed up to the front of the line you are going to miss the Harley convention, but please choose a lane that is not next to me. Thankyouverymuch.

3. That annoying piece of skin on the side of your fingernail..you know the one...You will bite it and bite it until it comes off, knowing damn well that it is going to hurt for 7 days afterwards. It will then proceed to get caught on every blanket, t-shirt and hair on your head, causing more biting and eventually wrapping a piece of scotch tape around it because you are at work and you are classy like that.

4. Movie credits...there is just something about the credits rolling and the song playing in the background that literally makes me angry. I have to shut the movie off AS SOON as it is over, and I will just about jump off of the couch to find the remote. You know how some movies will show a funny clip after the credits have finished rolling? Yea, I've never seen that part.

5. Whistling....omg guys I don't know what it is about whistling but it makes my skin crawl!! So one little whistle to get someone's attention or when the hubs whistles at me from afar--I'm totally cool with that...but when someone just walks down the street whistling some obnoxiously happy tune---I seriously want to scream.

6. When clothes are hanging out of the dresser drawers...I'm sure this is 100% due to my OCD...There is something about seeing the sleeve of a shirt or the teeny tiniest part of a sock hanging out of the drawer that kills me. I will stop whatever I am doing to walk over and fix it. This rule also applies to cords, paper and anything else that will obnoxiously weasel its way halfway out of the drawer.

7. People that make up words...for example..."funner, supposably, irregardless" to name a few...First of all, they are not real words...second, I am secretly judging you for using said words. And third, THEY ARE NOT REAL WORDS...Ok, I know I said that twice, but I feel like it is warranted.

8. People who overuse apostrophes...apostrophes are used for 2 things. To show possession and to join 2 words. If I am talking about Katie's shoes, there would be an apostrophe after Katie. There WOULD NOT, however, be an apostrophe after shoe. I feel like if you don't know, don't add an apostrophe. Less is more people.

9. Commercials...I know that this mainly has to do with the fact that I am Netflix spoiled, but commercials drive me insane. If I am watching something live, (which is super rare by the way as I will pause a show just so that I can fast forward through the next commercial), I get so flustered at the break, knowing that I have at least 3 minutes until my show picks back up. Netflix + DVR = best inventions ever.

10. Slamming your baby toe on something...you could seriously be walking at snail speed, gently graze your baby toe on the side of the couch and suddenly you are laying on the floor, grabbing at your foot as though it were just chopped off, screaming every curse word known to sweet baby jesus. It doesn't matter how hard you hit it, your baby toe is definitely the wuss of the lower half of your body when it comes to pain.

There are probably like a zillion other things that drive me crazy, but I'll leave you with those for now. What drives you crazy?? And am I the only one who hates the ones that I mentioned?

Day 29...5 things I love about....me!!!

Day 29...5 things I love about....me!!!

Everyone has those things that they HATE about themselves...for example, I wish I was a little taller, I wish my abs were just a little more washboard-y and there is this blemish on the right side of my face that no amount of make-up will ever cover. But that's not what we are going to talk about today. Today is all about the things I love about myself. Let me start by telling you a secret. When I was a teenager an into my early 20's, I was obsessed with myself. Seriously, conceited was a huge understatement. As the years have passed that has faded away, but there are a few things that I will always love about ME! And here are 5 of them:

1. My intelligence. My entire life I was a straight-A student (chemistry aside..seriously, who needs that crap?) and it has helped me so much as an adult. Rather than screw around in school, I studied as hard as I could and learned as much as possible, hoping that at least half of it would stick around. One of my favorite favorite things to do is sit around and watch Jeopardy, shouting out every answer that I know. I would seriously go to school just for fun, if I didn't have to worry about all the paper writing and cramming (ain't nobody got time for that).

 2. My personality. I have always tried to be the perfect mix of outgoing and mysterious. I am definitely not one of those in-your-face people who will run up and introduce myself immediately, sharing my life story over hugs and giddy screams. On the other hand, I am far from the type of person who will sit in a corner and keep to themselves. I will be the first to break out in a song in the middle of an antique store to win a candle (true story), and I have no problem breaking out some dance moves in the middle of a restaurant if it will make one of my nieces or nephews happy. I'm pretty much an awesome person to have around.

3. My uniqueness. I have a very different, eclectic taste in pretty much anything. I believe the gaudier the better. When it comes to clothes, I will be the first person to mix a green shirt with some purple skinnies, throw on a pink scarf and some sparkly jewelry and head out the door. My taste in shoes and purses is pretty much the same. When it comes to decorating inside of the house, anything goes. For example, in my living room, as soon as you walk in the front door, I have the most amazing mirror you have ever seen. It is covered with like 50 gigantic rhinestones and matches zero other things in the house. But ya know what? It is fabulous!!

4. My cooking. Call it my Italian heritage, my grandmother's cooking lessons or just my plain old love for food. I am an awesome chef! My gravy (or spaghetti sauce for all of you non-Italians) is top notch, and is pretty much everyone's favorite thing that I make. I am also a huge fan of taking a bunch of stuff from the pantry, throwing it in a skillet with some garlic and wine and Voila! And OMG I hate recipes!! Seriously, I will take a recipe and substitute like 5 items to add my own twist. This is probably the reason why I cook 20 times more than I bake. You have to have just the right amount of pinches and dashes when it comes to baking. Cooking is a different story. Sure, that looks like half a cup. Eh, go ahead and add a little more.

5. My OCD. Ok, so I haven't officially been diagnosed with OCD, but a self diagnosis is pretty much the same thing. I am ridiculously organized and I hate when things re out of place. My closet is color coordinated and all of the items in my pantry have to be facing the same way (label side in). I am always over prepared for everything, packing for a vacation 5 days before we leave. I make checklists for EVERYTHING, always making sure that I don't forget something. We went to Tennessee last year and I literally had a folder that contained directions there and back, directions to all of the attractions we were visiting, gate passes, the contract that I signed to rent the cabin, coupons for all of the attractions, a notarized letter from my mom that we were allowed to take my brother out of state, and a printed receipt that contained all of the reservation info. I will never be under-prepared for anything, and that is so comforting to me. Trust me, I am a great person to have around on a rainy day (I keep a poncho and a deck of card in my purse).

I hope you all enjoyed getting to know me a little better, and I am super excited to learn more about all of you. Only 2 days left in the challenge guys!!!!! We can do it!!

Random facts about me

Happy Friday night!!!! While browsing through some blogs today, I stumbled upon a few posts telling secrets and little known facts about themselves. So I decided to sit down, make myself a delicious strawberry-banana daiquiri and give you a little insight into my world...here's 10 random facts....feel free to judge if you must...

1. I am a total book nerd. For as long as I can remember I would look forward to trips to the library so I could take out endless books and devour them as soon as I got home. Favorite authors--Nicholas Sparks, Jodie Picoult & Emily Giffin.

2. I absolutely positively hate confrontation. I will go out of my way to please people just to avoid any sort of argument or disagreement. Don't get me wrong--I will stand up for what I believe in and I will do what I have to in order to protect the people I love, but 9 times out of 10, I am the biggest pushover.

3. Lightning scares me to death. Growing up in Philly, it never bothered me. I would sit out on the porch and watch the storm in the distance. Once I moved to Florida, it was like a different world. Lightning storms down here are the scariest thing you will ever experience. True story--while driving down the Interstate in a monsoon (which is basically what every storm turns into down here), lightning struck the ground less than 10 feet from me. The car shook, the ground cracked--it was horrifying. Now I stay inside during storms.

4. I have had recurring tornado dreams for the past 15 years. They seem to get worse and more frequent when I am stressed out or upset over something, but they can strike at any time. I can always see the tornado in the distance, racing towards me, and I am scrambling to get my entire family together so that we can take cover. The strangest thing of all? I found out that my momma has them all the time too!

5. You can read the story of how Steven and I met and started dating here. But what I didn't tell you is that when we met, we were both in long term relationships with other people. The first year of our friendship, the 4 of us actually hung out together! Luckily, we both realized that we were meant for eachother, and the rest is history!

6. Steven and I have been trying to have a baby for almost 3 years. When we first started trying we assumed we would be pregnant within a few months and working on baby # 2 by now. My original idea for this blog was a place to vent about our infertility issues and get support from other people going through the same thing. But then I decided that it would be a much happier and funnier blog doing it this way instead.

7. As I kid, my dream jobs were as follows: a nun, a model and an actress. Let's take a look into this: A nun--as a little girl in church, it was my goal to be the loudest singer in the entire place. I would sit in the front row every week reciting the entire service right along with the priest. A model--This was a short lived dream. When I was in the 3rd grade, one of my friends (one of my taller, prettier friends, no less) told me that I wasn't pretty enough or tall enough to be a model. Dream=shattered. An actress--I always thought it would be fun to live in Hollywood and be rich and famous. Then I heard about the paparazzi & the crazy things they do, and that idea went out the window.

8. A few years ago while reading an article online, I read a story about a little 5 year old girl in Delaware who needed a kidney transplant. She had been on dialysis her entire life and she only had one working kidney. I immediately contacted the hospital to put myself on the transplant list. After weeks of consultations and testing, I found out that I was not a perfect match and therefore I wasn't eligible to be a donor. The best news of the whole story is that a year later, she found a donor and the transplant was successful. I still keep in contact with her family and she is doing great!

9. I have collected Barbies my entire life. I have dolls, ornaments, books, etc. This year for Christmas my hubby got me the new Holiday Barbie ornament and it is lovely! :)

10. I am completely OCD. I have to plan everything---when we go on vacation, I pack 3 days in advance. I make a list of everything that I need to grab before we leave (toothbrushes, phone chargers, camera) and I won't leave the house until everything on the list is checked off. My OCD-ness carries over into my organization and tidiness. The biggest 'quirk,' as the hubby calls it, is my pantry. I am the only one who can put the groceries away in the pantry and everything has its place. And most of all, NO nutrition facts can be showing. That drives me CRAZY!! I will spend an hour pulling everything out and putting it all back in, just to make sure it looks perfect.

So there it is. If you made it through the whole list, congrats! Thank you Allie @ Between Dreams for the idea. Feel free to share any quirks or facts about yourself in the comments.

Now I'm off to finish my daiquiri. Have a great night!!
